GRIT COMBAT GUIDE: JESSE Jesse Sumisuke, Professional Delinquent RL: Fox Lee E-mail: foxlee@synthetic-surrealism.net ICQ: 38049868 AIM: JesseSensei ----- RANK & TRAITS Rank: 6 Attributes: Strong+ Tough+ Skills: Brawling+ ----- ATTITUDE Style: Brawling - Jesse doesn't know any proper martial arts styles or fancy ways of fighting, and is damn proud of that fact. Methods: As above. In close combat, Jesse will simply wail on her opponent with anything at her disposal, relying on her formidable raw power to punk her adversary straight away, or her endurance to take enough of a beating to tire them out. When faced with ranged combat, her usual "tactic" is simply to close on her opponent; she will happily charge through an oncoming attack to close and do some real damage. If this fails, she's likely to resort to throwing nearby objects (cars, bits of buildings, that sort of thing). ----- SPECIALS Advantages: Emotive Fighting: Jesse's fighting "style", along with any of her abilities and specials and such, is nothing more than what comes naturally to her. Thus, she does not necessarily need to think clearly or focus herself to be effective in combat. Insane Toughness: Simply put, Jesse can take a beating; as scary as it is, she could probably match a regular Rank /10/ for staying power. None of this regenerating stuff, though; if you kill her, she stays down. It's just /bloody/ hard to kill her. Insane Strength: While she may not have much style or skill, Jesse /does/ have a lot of raw power at her disposal; we're talking lifting and throwing hundreds of tons, and grappling with the best of them. Fire: Although she's unaware of it, Jesse naturally uses the Fire in all of her attacks; it's simply a part of her. As such, her unarmed attacks can still damage people who are immune to non-ki based techs, such as Kon Tatsu. She doesn't have any skill or ability with her Fire aside of this, though. Stand-Alone Complex: While most Nerimans have come to take for granted the slight amplifying effect that ambient ki/Fire/et cetera has on their powers, Jesse is quite the opposite. Rather than being adversely affected in situations where such ambient powers are muted, Jesse thrives. She doesn't become stronger, per se, but rather reaches her full potential only when the "smothering" effect of such powers is removed. Disadvantages: Temper: Jesse is far too hot-headed for her own good; it's very, very easy to get her generating a hot battle aura. In a place like Nerima, where at least two practitioners of the Hiryu Shoten Ha exist, this isn't good. More importantly, it also means she's easy to bait, and if you know her buttons, it doesn't take much to coax her into doing some pretty dumb things. Defenceless: Jesse just doesn't think in terms of defence - as Talen put it, her idea of defending is to laugh at her oppponent while they hit her. And, although she has the toughness to withstand quite a pounding from somebody who's evenly-matched with her, stronger fighters stand to be a problem. Uneducated: Jesse doesn't know a damn thing about fighting styles, ki techniques, battle auras, or any of that sort of thing. Thus, where a more educated fighter might be able to predict their opponent's moves, or adjust their style to better counter that of their adversary, Jesse just has to stick it out. Similarly, if Jesse is somehow deprived of one of her advantages, she wouldn't know how to compensate for the loss. Unconscious: Given that Jesse doesn't actually /know/ that she uses her Fire in combat, it's fairly obvious that she doesn't know how to control it, nor does she have the potential to learn any ki techniques or the like. And, even if she could, her own stubbornness and chaotic nature means she wouldn't want to. Stand-Alone Complex: While most Nerimans have a constant "boost" to their powers from the high levels of ki/ambient Fire/et cetera that surround them, Jesse is quite the opposite. The presence of other powers tends to smother her potential; the more energy- soaked a particular area is, the more likely it is that Jesse will be weakened when fighting there. And yes, this means normally, Jesse's combat prowess is being somewhat held in check, and her abilities are at least slightly sub-par for her Rank/Attributes. --- TECHNIQUES Not a damn thing. And proud of it ;p
