BEN Name: Ben RL: Steven Scougall with help from Talen ----- RANK & TRAITS Rank: 3 --- Attributes Relentless Dwarfed Impulsive Idealistic --- Skills: Fire Control Swordsmanship ----- ATTITUDE Style: SMITE! Ben's fighting style relies almost entirely on a 'complete' offense with slooow recovery time. --- Methods: SMITE! Ben opens with a massive blow, but never does so without warning his opponent first - he is a great believer in honourable combat. While he packs a hell of a whallop with his sword, the problem he has is _hitting_ people with it... if, against all odds, despite his hugely slow recovery time, he gets a second hit in, he'll usually fall back on the same trick. ----- SPECIALS Advantages: Basic Fire Skills Ben is remotely capable in the use of the Fire (he can detect disturbances in the Fire, for example). He is also instinctually skilled in the use of the Fire, so, while not actually versed in what exactly he's _doing_ he can do things on the same scale as more skilled Fire users than he. Stupidity Ben is relentlessly stupid, to the point where he can't acknowledge defeat. While this looks like a disadvantage, it does indicate he has emotional stamina that many people usually lack. As such, at times of durress, he can rely on his emotional strength to drive him on, even if he himself knows he's facing certain defeat. This is called, in some circumstancces, either nihilistic stupidity or courage. Fire Reserves Ben is big on do-gooding but somehow manages to also pack a lot of Firepower (groan) into his midget frame. As such, he is incredibly dangerous to those weak against Fire-based and hate-ki-based attacks. While he does not do overt ki attacks or remote ki control he nonetheless uses the Fire in other ways, which is usually reliant on boosting his strength and creating 'phantom mass' for his sword, making it grow. When Ben _needs_ to, he can call upon this Fire to enhance his normally tame abilities in the field of speed or strength, but usually only in times of emotional duress. Getting thumped in the arm by Ben is actually tantamount to copping a ki blast, given that his body unconsciously funnels Fire around his body constantly. Reach That sword is six feet long when he's NOT powering it up. His sword (Ryuugen) can grow to fourteen feet in length, and he can carry it more or less effortlessly, despite its titanic weight. --- Disadvatages: The Waters If his opponent can utilise the Waters, Ben can effectively not hurt them. Ryuugen's viability as an actual sword is comparative to that of compressed margarine, and it only maintains an edge and its incredible durability through his Fire-based 'phantom mass' technique. When powered up, Ryuugen would pass harmlessly through a Waters user and when not powered up, a Waters user could effortlessly eliminate the blade's momentum. Slow Ben is slow on the uptake and slow on the recovery. Both in combat and in life, if his first hit misses, it's incredibly unlikely he'll ever get a second, unless he's fighting a supreme idiot. Weak Aside from a bit more strength than one would expect from a thirteen-year-old boy (especially being able to _WEILD_ that sword of his), Ben has no vastly notable strength, nor endurance. Stupidity This guy's not too bright. This isn't to say he's a helpless drooling fool - but he's still only a thirteen-year-old kid and ultimately lacks a lot of world wisdom and nounce. For what it's worth, he's got a C+ GPA. Ideals Ben is obsessed with his honour, to the point of being honourable in a situation where he's otherwhise totally and utterly doomed. While he's not the _smartest_ fighter on the face of chikyuu, his ideals cloud his judgement and impede him yet further. Recovery time Ben usually doesn't get more than one swing in. Given how much power he packs and how powerful he has been in relation to the people with whom he usually duels, this has served him well and not proven to be an actual disadvantage. Big Sword Envy "There's always a bigger sword." Ben would crumble if anyone could produce a _bigger_ sword than his own. Not necessarily a _better_ sword (given that his seems to simply be a quintessential bit of metal with a handle) but a _bigger_ one.
