The Big GRIT Resources Page

Historical documents

Here are the stories that have been told in GRIT.

Well, not really...

...here you can find various resources relating to the stories that have been told in GRIT. They may be thread compilations, thread summaries, post archives, timelines, overall summaries of a storyline, and so on.

External Resources

Paul Blay has been in GRIT for little over a week; and in that time he's taken all the GRIT posts since August 2000 and compiled them. They're available at his Instant Temporary GRIT Page. Check them out.

Also, Sanjian (sanjian@widomaker.com) has a very large archive of GRIT posts, so you may be able to ask him for them.

Thread Compilations

Where valiant GRITters have taken all the posts in a single thread and attempted to meld them all into one long cohesive narrative. Because of the scale and difficulty of such an undertaking, this isn't often done. Very very rarely in fact. So rarely that I've only got two compilations here, both done in 1996. <Embarassed Grin>

Thread Summaries

A relatively new item, these thread summaries are exactly what their name suggests. They should aid in greater comprehension of the GRIT and its history and be a partial replacement for all the thread compilations we don't have. That is, if we were going to actually bother in going back and summarising old threads, which doesn't look all that likely.

And they haven't been taking off... *sob* Come on, fellow GRITters! Please! We NEED something to remember the history of GRIT!

Timeline

The Holy Hairclipper Quest

The Holy Hairclipper Quest is the plot that's been driving GRIT for the past couple of years or so. Yes, it's very large, very complex, and very very long indeed.

In mid 1999 Aaron Peori made a post covering the major details of the past month or so of GRIT history: Holy Hairclipper Plotline Summary. While it may sometimes seem like it contains massive spoilers, this is not the case; everything Aaron wrote has been shown in GRIT.

There were follow-ups, but they DID include spoilers and led to a nasty little flamewar, and I'm not including them.

Then, in June 2000, Jason Heavensrun wrote a synopsis of everything in the Holy Hairclipper Quest thus far: Holy Hairclipper Quest Synopsis. There have been a couple of followup corrections:

The story of the Fire and the Waters

The Fire of the Dragon is something I came up with one lazy afternoon as a means to eventually depower Steve and Ann and change their fighting styles drastically. Needless to say, this intention backfired badly. Nowadays, the Fire is showing up in many different places of GRIT, has caused a couple of threats to the entire world, has gained an opposing force in the shape of the Waters, and doesn't look like it's going to leave for a loooong while. Not bad for something that started off as a Plot Device.

In any case, in March 2001, I did up a summary:

It does not contain the origins or prehistory - that's in the separate Fire of the Dragon page.

Character Histories/Stories

That is, not compilations/summaries of specific threads, but very brief histories of certain characters. I've really only got this section because I have some old character pages lying around that detailed their history, and wanted to fit them in somewhere.
